Items Of Value
Items of value may be anything a
pirate deems as valuable to any degree. These items may be traded or
horded as a pirate desires and many items have multiple uses. The most
common item of value is Pirate Gold. Pirate Gold is the standard form of
currency in Pirates Buried Treasures and quite often, the most sought
after as well.
Other items of value include items
categorized as "personal effects" . These items are usually worn or
carried and provide the pirate with a number of benefits, especially
during pirate challenges. See the Personal Effects page for more details.
Trade Goods are items of value and
may be used to barter for products and/or services. Trade Goods come in a
variety of forms such as Wheat, Sugar, Coffee, Grog & Rum and may be
bought and sold for profit or loss. The values of each trade good varies
from location to location. See the Trade Goods page for more details.
Additional items of value may
assist you in your treasure hunting adventures and may prove to be quite
valuable during negotiations with other pirates, merchants or other
"persons of interest". These items range from Trading Cards, Treasure Maps
and Scrolls to Tavern Journals, Buried Treasure Bottles & Strong Boxes or
Trunks. Information is limited on the benefits and values of these items
and acquiring these items may be difficult at times.
Upon discovering items
of value, whether in the real world or virtual world, it is recommended
that the items be applied to your account as soon as you make port. Some
items of value may be applied to your account by providing the serial
number associated with the item while others must be sent to the
Quarterdeck for deposit. Items of value within the virtual world (both
online and 3D) come with serial numbers so you may make a deposit via
email. Items of value discovered in the real world must be sent to the
Quarterdeck for deposit.
*****Artifacts &
Idols *****
Artifacts & Idols
are items found in both virtual and real world locations. These items vary
in size and type as well as value. Each item contains an independent
serial number and it's authenticity may be verified by e-mailing a request
to The Captain or an associate. There is an unknown number of various
Artifact & Idols in existence so you may want to acquire a Tavern Journal
for more details.
*****Buried
Treasure Bottles *****
Buried Treasure
Bottles are small bottles which contain one or several items buried in
sand. Each type of bottle contains a different type of "Buried Treasure"
and several bottles of the same type may contain various similar treasures
with different values. Buried Treasure Bottles may be discovered or
purchased, but it is recommended that purchases be limited to Taverns or
other "official" PBT locations. Purchasing a Buried Treasure Bottle from
another pirate brings the risk of paying for a bottle of sand, with no
buried treasure within.
*****Scrolls
*****
Scrolls vary in
size and type and usually provide valuable information to the owner. Some
Scrolls, such as Riddle Scrolls, provide a unique riddle which may be
solved for Pirate Gold. The riddles associated with these scrolls are
usually very hard to solve and may take extensive thought and/or research
to come up with the correct answer.
Other Scrolls may
provide valuable information, a special quest or a message from The
Captain.
